Magnum P.I. Is Bringing In An Original Series Star For A Fun Role

Magnum P.I. is bringing an actor from the original series to the reboot as a fun new character. The CBS drama will welcome Roger E. Mosley, who played the original T.C., as a guest star for an upcoming episode.

Roger E. Mosley will appear on the new Magnum P.I. as Booky, per TVLine. Booky is a Vietnam veteran, as well as a barber. So, how will he be introduced? Stephen Hill’s T.C. will go to Booky for a haircut and to garner some wisdom.

Yes, the reboot version of T.C. goes to Booky for wise advice. It is not clear just yet what T.C. will need Booky’s advice about. Does something happen that causes him to seek Booky out? Could Roger E. Mosley eventually recur as Booky? The actor will make his guest star debut in the Magnum P.I. episode that airs March 11.

Depending on how the episode plays out, Roger E. Mosley’s Booky could theoretically become a recurring presence on the show. It would be an awesome way to connect the original series with the reboot moving forward. Plus, Booky sounds like a fun character, who one could easily see remaining a part of the show.

If Magnum P.I. does not have him on more than once this season, the good news is they will have an opportunity to have Roger E. Mosley back in the future. The reboot has already been renewed for a second season. So, if Booky is not seen again in Season 1, there is always the potential for a second season appearance.

Robert E. Mosley played Theodore “T.C.” Calvin in the original Magnum P.I. series throughout its entire run. Yes, he starred on the show from the time it debuted in 1980, up until it ended eight years later in 1988. Fast forward 31 years, and he is starring on the reboot.

Adding a cast member from an original show helps forge a connection between the original and the reboot. It did not take the Magnum P.I. reboot long to follow through with that and include Roger E. Mosley.

For fans of the original series, learning that Roger E. Mosley will appear in the reboot may be the incentive they need to check it out. That is if they have not already. As the new Magnum P.I. continues its first season and eventually gets started on its second, it will be interesting to see if anyone else joins him. Stay tuned to find out!

New episodes of Magnum P.I. air Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Roger E. Mosley’s episode will air March 11 at the same time and place. The reboot is among many shows airing new episode during the midseason.
