Suits Renewed For Season 9 At USA, But There's Bad News

suits cast season 8

Well, Suits fans, you can now rest easy knowing that one of your favorites has been renewed for Season 9. That's right, the legal superstars of Zane Specter Litt will be back for yet another go-round of personal triumphs, tribulations and career highs and setbacks. But, there is some unfortunate news, as USA has announced that Season 9 will actually be the last for the legal drama.

Today, USA renewed Suits for Season 9, which will be comprised of 10 episodes, but they also revealed that it will mark the end of the road for Harvey, Donna, Louis and the rest of the not-always-so law-abiding crew. While we don’t know if this was solely a decision of USA or a joint decision between the network and creator / showrunner Aaron Korsh, it seems like the latter possibility is likely, because Korsh shared a lovely statement thanking USA and several people at the network and studio for helping him bring Suits to television. Of course, Korsh knows who really kept him on his toes for all this time, and he also thanked the fans. Here’s some of what he had to say:

And last but never least, to the fans who have stuck with the SUITS family through thick and thin, through can-openers and flashbacks – thank you for always speaking your mind. Without you, I might start to think I’m getting the hang of this writing thing. And once that happens, nobody wins. I look forward to enraging and hopefully sometimes delighting you with the final episodes.

Well, Korsh isn’t kidding when he mentions that Suitors (those would be Suits fans, in case you aren’t in the know) have stuck with the show through thick and thin, especially when you consider how the series had to go into its current season. After seeing the departure of former series regular Gina Torres in Season 6, regulars Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle left the show at the end of Season 7, meaning that for the first time since the show debuted, it would see major cast changes at the opening of Season 8.

While the final season of Suits will consist of the lowest number of episodes for any of the show's run, it does sound like Aaron Korsh already has some exciting plans for the finale that will keep those Suitors guessing at how things will wrap up. And, he seems to be counting on his plans for Season 9 “enraging” fans, so at least we can count on the show going out on a note that will keep people talking long after the final episode.

For now, though, all fans need to think about is the second half of Suits’ Season 8, which will hit USA tonight, January 23, at 10 p.m. CST.
