Priyanka Chopra Admits She Judged Nick Jonas Poorly At First

For romantics out there, there are many starry-eyed people inclined to believe that love happens at first sight. Though if romantic comedies (and, you know, real life) taught us anything, it's that true love upon first gaze rarely ever happens. People are complicated; there are a lot of factors that come into play. It takes some time and patience before people recognize the love they find in another person, and that was the case for Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. That's according to Chopra, at least.

I’ve known him for two years. I didn't think that this is what it turned out to be, and that's maybe that’s my fault, I judged a book by its cover. When I actually started dating Nick he surprised me so much... I call him Old Man Jonas. That's my name for him, OMJ. He’s such an old soul, extremely smart, so good for me because he grounds me so much. I'm a wild child. I do whatever I want whenever I want and he always supports me.

The confession came during Priyanka Chopra's recent chat with Entertainment Tonight. The former Quantico actress was recently attending Tina Brown's 10th Annual Women in the World Summit in New York City, and she was asked about her recent marriage to the Jonas Brothers band member. While the often-hitched couple haven't been shy about tying the knot in recent months, Chopra admits that there was once a time where she wasn't entirely certain if Jonas was the man for her. She didn't think he was exactly marriage material, but that opinion changed as they got to know each other more and more and he became more and more supportive of her acting career. The same can also be said for Nick Jonas, who admitted that the multiple weddings they had was a bit exhausting.

Priyanka Chopra went on to say:

One of the things that first struck me about him was we were on a date and it was time for the date to get over, we were [with] a bunch of friends, and I had a meeting... and I was dropping hints to my friends and they were like, 'No, don't go for the meeting. Just stay.' And I was like 'No, no, no. If someone gives me reason enough to cancel it, I'll cancel it.' And he just didn't pick up the hint. I said it twice. I said it thrice. Finally he took me aside and was like, 'Look, I'm not stupid. I know what you're trying to do. But I would never be the one to tell you to cancel work because I know how hard you've worked to be where you are. So, if you could've canceled it, you would've done it. I'll take our friends out for dinner and we'll wait for you and you finish your meeting and come back.' And I was just like, 'That's the first time someone's ever done that.'

Additionally, Priyanka Chopra claims she and Nick Jonas share a mutual interest in charity work, which is something that helped the actress endear to the singer/actor.

Clearly, it was a wide variety of factors that culminated into a loving and fostering relationship-turned-marriage for this deeply smitten celebrity couple. And love doesn't come together in simple measures. It sometimes takes a wealth of factors to bring people together in each other's arms, and that's evidently what happened with this relationship between Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra. It might not have been love at first sight for this famous couple, but love made its way soon enough.
