Anne Hathaway Took One Parenting Tip From The Royal Family

Having made a name for herself early in her career through Disney's beloved Princess Diaries movies, Anne Hathaway is practically a member of royalty already -- at least, in the eyes of some of her most loyal devotees. But alas, her reign as Mia Thermopolis lives only in the movies, and she doesn't have the same benefits that come from a life in royalty (besides being wealthy and successful in her own right as an award-winning actress). But that doesn't mean that the real royal family can't offer their own advice about parenting to the Oscar winner from time to time.

As Anne Hathaway recounts in an interview with The Times to promote her latest film, the utterly bonkers Serenity, she has learned a thing or two from being in the company of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Specifically, how they handle child-rearing when it comes to their kids. She was deeply impressed with how Kate and William speak to their kids on an "eye-to-eye" level, making them feel important and not talked down to the way young children often are. Hathaway believes that's a great way to make the kids feel "empowered." Now, Hathaway uses that technique with her own son, Jonathan (2). Particularly as someone who is often in the media spotlight like Prince William and Kate Middleton, she appreciates their parenting skills.

There is no clear way to raise your child, and every parent could afford to learn something new in their individual journeys. You can say that raising kids is a bit like trial-and-error, with some things working out better than others. But Anne Hathaway is deeply appreciative of the ways in which Prince William and Kate Middleton are able to handle the responsibilities of being good parents, while still being frequent members of the media's public gaze.

Anne Hathaway is still in the early years of parenting, but she has certainly learned quite a great deal.

Even though parenting duties keep the actress busy these days, Anne Hathaway remains active in her professional life. She was last seen in the aforementioned Serenity in addition to last year's heist comedy Ocean's 8, and she'll next be seen in the forthcoming heist comedy The Hustle.

When it comes to the possibility of returning to the role of Mia Thermopolis in the near future, Anne Hathaway believes that's certainly a possibility. She's hopeful that a sequel will come into fruition, despite the death of director Garry Marshall a few years earlier, and the actress says there is a script floating around out there in Tinsel Town and she "really" wants it "to happen." Sure enough, if she finds herself returning to the royal of the famous Disney princess, maybe Hathaway can get additional pointers from Kate Middleton and Prince William about how one lives the royal life.
