Rami Malek Confirms He's Dating Bohemian Rhapsody Co-Star

Lucy Boynton, Rami Malek - Bohemian Rhapsody

It was a big weekend for Rami Malek. The actor walked away with the Golden Globe for Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture - Drama for his work portraying Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. And Malek's big win came only days after he announced that he was in a relationship with his co-star Lucy Boynton, who played Mary Austin in the biopic. Clearly, he's in good spirits right now. Here's what we know about Malek's romance.

The romance between the two Bohemian Rhapsody stars was confirmed during a separate awards show ('tis the season for awards shows!). To be more specific, it was the Palm Springs International Film Festival's Film Awards Gala, which took place on Thursday. As it was reported by People, Rami Malek took the stage when he won the Breakthrough Performance Award during the ceremony, and it was during the acceptance speech that he confirmed that he was in a relationship with Lucy Boynton. Here's what Malek said about his love for Boynton when he was on stage for the award.

Thank you, Lucy Boynton. You have been my ally, my confidant, you are my love. I appreciate you so much.

With that, Rami Malek ended the rumors and confirmed his romantic feelings for Lucy Boynton. And while this is the first time either of them has officially confirmed their relationship, it is not the first time the romance has been hinted at or suggested by either party during the film's press rounds.

The newly-confirmed couple was seen kissing while having lunch together at some point last year, for instance, and they have been spotted sharing meals together in the Los Angeles area at least a couple times throughout the second half of 2018. It's clear that Rami Malek and Lucy Boynton hit it off during filming on Bohemian Rhapsody, which wrapped in the first half of 2018, and they've remained smitten with each other in early days of 2019.

It should be noted that when Rami Malek called Lucy Boynton the "love of his life," he is referring to Freddie Mercury's 1975 song "Love of My Life," which was dedicated to Mary Austin, i.e. Boynton's character in the financially-successful and now award-winning motion picture. It should be noted that in addition to Malek's win yesterday, Bohemian Rhapsody also won Best Picture in the Drama category -- the last award given out for the night.

At this point, it wouldn't be surprising if Rami Malek's good fortune continued throughout the remaining days of 2019. There's a high chance he will be given a Best Actor nomination for Bohemian Rhapsody, and there's a better-than-decent chance that Bohemian Rhapsody will also be nominated for Best Picture as well. But those nominations will not be determined until later in January.

For now, however, he should be more-than-content with his achievements. He's not only gotten awards for his work in this film and Mr. Robot, but he also reportedly found the love of his life too.
