Former Avengers Chris Evans And Scarlett Johansson Are Teaming Up Again For A New Adventure

Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans

Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson both spent about a decade as Avengers in the MCU and, now that their time with Marvel has more or less come to an end, they’re filling their plates with other projects. And luckily for us, one of these projects is allowing the two to cross paths once more, as the actors are teaming up to star in a new adventure film for Apple. And it really sounds like it’s going to be something special.

The Apple project that has cast both former Avengers is titled Ghosted, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, is expected to be a romantic adventure film. The trade compares the new movie to 1984's Romancing the Stone, which centered on a romance novelist who gets pulled into a treasure-hunting adventure in the jungle. A more recent film it could probably be compared to is Jungle Cruise, so fans of the newly released Disney film may want to be on the lookout for this one.

Chris Evans is taking on two roles in Ghosted, as he'll both star in and produce the project. The Apple film is also produced by Skydance, the company behind Amazon’s The Tomorrow War, as well as Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who also penned Ghosted. Most probably know the writing duo from major films like Deadpool, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Zombieland. The new movie will also be helmed by Rocketman and future Sherlock Holmes 3 director Dexter Fletcher.

Scarlett Johansson’s departure from the MCU happened more recently than Chris Evans’, and her character’s solo film, Black Widow, just dropped at the beginning of July. Evans, of course, made his last appearance back in Avengers: Endgame back in 2019. Evans has since been climbing on board of some major projects for a while now, all currently in various stages of development and production. He just finished up filming on Joe and Anthony Russo's The Gray Man not too long ago, is lending his voice to the Toy Story spinoff Lightyear and has a few future projects like The Little Shop of Horrors reboot set.

With time away from the MCU being way more brief, Scarlett Johansson doesn’t have quite as many confirmed projects just yet. Though at present, Johansson is engaged in a legal battle with Disney, in regards to her Black Widow film not getting the exclusive theatrical release she was reportedly promised. It doesn’t appear the lawsuit has affected her ability to land big roles, though, because Ghosted marks the second job she has secured since suing Disney, the first being a future Wes Anderson film.

Much about Ghosted is still being kept under wraps for right now, such as the plot and additional cast members. Even so, we have come to expect a lot from both Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson - especially when they’re together. But until we know more about this specific project, you can check out what else Apple TV has to offer streaming right now.
