Some of the best superhero movies in recent memory (in both live action and animated formats) have seen a meteoric rise in popularity for Harley Quinn. The Batman villain, who was actually specifically created for Batman: The Animated Series by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini before becoming part of the DC Comics canon, can likely thank Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie’s portrayal for her enhanced iconography these days.

However, a new cinematic version of the Clown Princess of Crime is about to enter the fold in another upcoming DC movie – director Todd Phillipsmusical sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux – as played by none other than Lady Gaga. While we wait for that upcoming Batman-adjacent movie, we have a whole marathon’s worth of Harley Quinn movies to recommend to you on streaming or elsewhere, below.

The DCEU Suicide Squad Movies (2016-2021)

Amanda Waller (Academy Award winner Viola Davis) forces a group of incarcerated supervillains to do her dirty work in exchange for less time in prison.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: Margot Robbie made her first appearance as Harley Quinn (also the character’s live-action, cinematic debut) in writer and director David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and would later reprise the role to even greater acclaim in writer and director James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Injustice (2021)

When The Joker (Kevin Pollak) manipulates Superman (Justin Hartley) into murdering Lois Lane (Laura Bailey), Batman (Anson Mount) and his allies must band together to prevent his rampage from causing cataclysmic circumstances.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: Based on the popular video game of the same name, Injustice is an intense, action-packed thrill ride with a massive line-up of popular DC characters – including Harley Quinn, voiced by Community cast member Gillian Jacobs.

Scooby-Doo! And Batman: The Brave And The Bold (2018)

When the respective rogues galleries of both Batman (Diedrich Bader) and Mystery Inc. wreak havoc on Gotham City, the Dark Knight must team-up with the meddling kids and their dog, Scooby-Doo (Frank Welker).

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: A crossover spin-off of two of the best animated TV shows of all time, Scooby-Doo! and Batman: The Brave and the Bold features one of the more recent instances of Tara Strong voicing Harley Quinn.

Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too! (2023)

When the Justice League goes missing, it is up to Mystery Inc. and Superman’s trusted canine companion to solve the case.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: Once again, Tara Strong returns to voice Harley Quinn (as well as Lois Lane and a woman named Helen) in Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! – an animated crossover between two of the most iconic dogs in pop culture history.

Birds Of Prey (2020)

A freshly single and out of prison Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) forms an unlikely alliance with a group of female vigilantes to take on a ruthless crime lord (Ewan McGregor) in Gotham City.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: Robbie’s Harley Quinn was so infectious that she inspired multiple spin-offs, but the only one that has made it out of development hell so far is Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, which sees the Clown Princess of Crime turning over a new leaf while still being her crazy self.

Task Force X from Batman: Assault On Arkham

(Image credit: Warner Bros. / DC)

Batman: Assault On Arkham (2014)

As the Dark Knight (voiced by the late Kevin Conroy) tries to find a bomb planted by The Joker, a group of convicted criminals are forced to become heroes when The Riddler is discovered to be hiding stolen, top secret information somewhere in Arkham Asylum.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: While the title suggests it is a Batman movie, Batman: Assault on Arkham is really one of the best Suicide Squad movies yet, in my opinion, and sees Harley Quinn (Hynden Walch) joining Task Force X in a feature-length adaptation for the first time.

Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay cast

(Image credit: Warner Bros. / DC)

Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay (2018)

A mostly new group of convicted criminals are forced into becoming heroes when Amanda Waller (Vanessa Williams) recruits them to find an artifact said to prevent the owner from damnation.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: Like The Suicide Squad, the animated Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay is a bigger, bloodier, and arguably better “sort of” sequel to its unofficial predecessor, Batman: Assault on Arkham, partially for the return of celebrated voice actor Tara Strong (also known for playing Batgirl) in the role of Harley Quinn.

Margot Rubin as Harley Quinn in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)

Five years after the Duplo invaders took over, Emmet Brickowski (Chris Pratt) and his friends embark on another adventure in the LEGO Universe.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: The coincidentally named Margot Rubin (who actually voices several characters in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part) makes a brief, but memorably funny, voice appearance in the sequel that clearly pays homage to Margot Robbie’s version of the character in Suicide Squad.

Jenny Slate as Harley Quinn in The LEGO Batman Movie

(Image credit: Warner Bros. / DC)

The LEGO Batman Movie (2017)

As Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson) takes over the GCPD, Joker (Zack Galifianakis) plans his ultimate revenge, and young Dick Grayson (Michael Cera) comes to live in Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne (Will Arnett, one of the best Batman voice actors) takes on his ultimate enemy: his ego.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: The first time Harley Quinn shared the screen with Arnett’s Caped Crusader was when former SNL star Jenny Slate voiced her in The LEGO Batman Movie, which offers a lighter, but still pretty one-sided, interpretation of her relationship with Mister J.

Harleen Quinzel in Batman vs. Two-Face

(Image credit: Warner Bros. / DC)

Batman Vs. Two-Face (2017)

Bruce Wayne (Adam West, in his final portrayal of Batman) and his young ward, Dick Grayson (original Robin actor Burt Ward), take on their old friend Harvey Dent (William Shatner), who suddenly shows signs of having a dangerous split personality.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: In the same year that The LEGO Batman Movie portrayed them as toy figurines, Batman vs. Two-Face (a sequel to 2016’s animated ‘60s era tribute Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders) hinted at the beginning of Dr. Harleen Quinzel’s (Sirena Irwin) toxic romance with the Joker (Jeff Bergman).

Batman, Harley Quinn, and Nightwing in Batman and Harley Quinn

(Image credit: Warner Bros. / DC)

Batman And Harley Quinn (2017)

When Poison Ivy (Paget Brewster) and the Floronic Man (Kevin Michael Richardson) pose a global threat, Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Nightwing (Loren Lester) have no choice but to join forces with Ivy’s estranged friend, Harley Quinn (former Big Bang Theory cast member Melissa Rauch).

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: In the same year that retro versions of the adversaries shared the screen in Batman vs. Two-Face, the Dark Knight and the Clown Princess of Crime headlined Batman and Harley Quinn – another lighthearted and comical take on some of the comic book medium’s most beloved characters from the creators of the DCAU.

Harley Quinn from Batman: Hush

(Image credit: Warner Bros. / DC)

Batman: Hush (2019)

As a new dangerous enemy emerges in Gotham City, Bruce Wayne (Jason O’Mara) is forced to confront devastating secrets from his past.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: Based on the acclaimed 2002 graphic novel by writer Jeph Loeb and illustrator Jim Lee, Batman: Hush – a DC animated movie that deserves a live-action update – sees Harley Quinn (again played by Hynden Walch) up to no good and at odds with Catwoman (Jennifer Morrison) in an epic (for lack of a better term) “cat fight.”

Harley Quinn from Justice League Dark: Apokolips War

(Image credit: Warner Bros. / DC)

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020)

After Darkseid achieves rule over the earth, resulting in the deaths of many of its greatest costumed vigilantes, former enemies suddenly become allies in the struggle to bring the tyrannical New God to justice.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: Hynden Walch voices Harley Quinn once again in Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, which serves as a finale to the DC Animated Movie Universe timeline and sees Harley promoted to Suicide Squad leader, but still apparently devoted to the Joker and seeking revenge for his death.

Yo Yo from Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox

(Image credit: Warner Bros. / DC)

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)

Barry Allen (Justin Chambers) wakes up to find himself in a world much different from his own, and must enlist the help of Thomas Wayne's Batman (Kevin McKidd) and other varying iterations of his superhero allies to fix the timeline and return home.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: Among the unique variants of classic DC characters whom Barry Allen encounters in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (based on the comic that would later inspire 2023’s The Flash), there is an alternate version of Harley Quinn known as Yo-Yo (Hynden Walch), who gets apprehended by the Flashpoint version of Cyborg, voiced by Michael B. Jordan.

Harley Quinn from Batman Ninja

Batman Ninja (2018)

Bruce Wayne (Roger Craig Smith) and his allies are forced to rely on their most basic skills and learn new fighting styles when they and the fiercest faces in their rogues gallery are accidentally transported to feudal Japan.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: Outside of the familiar voice of Tara Strong in the English language version, Batman Ninja (which is not just inspired by anime, but a genuine anime that incorporates DC elements) boasts an even more unique version of Harley Quinn, which is appropriate, considering that this is easily one of the most unique, visually intriguing, and underrated Batman movies on record.

Joker and Harley Quinn from Batman Vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

(Image credit: Warner Bros. / DC)

Batman Vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2019)

A group of intelligent, genetically mutated amphibians with pristine martial arts skills seek the help of Bruce Wayne’s vigilante alter ego (Troy Baker, who also voices Joker) to help them return home when a trans-dimensional rift leaves them trapped in Gotham City.

Why it’s a good option for Harley Quinn fans: A team-up we never realized we needed came in the form of Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (based on a similarly titled, popular limited series crossover event), in which Tara Strong also voices Harley Quinn in, probably, her strangest onscreen iteration yet: a mutated, anthropomorphic hyena.

One day, we hope that we can add the still unmade Gotham City Sirens movie (based on a comic that partners Harley Quinn with Catwoman and Poison Ivy) to this list. Until then, there are more than enough adventures featuring the Clown Princess of Crime above to keep you occupied.
