After being willed into existence by a persistent fanbase, Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now available to the public. The four-hour film presents Snyder’s original vision for the DC team-up and, in the process, it greatly rewrites the narrative presented in the 2017 theatrical cut. Though the movie is still considered to be an “Elsworlds” tale set outside the mainstream DC Extended Universe continuity, many are still curious as to whether a sequel could be made. Now, Aquaman actor Jason Momoa is sharing some thoughts on possibly starring in a Justice League 2.

Jason Momoa was one of the first Justice League stars to lend support to the #ReleasetheSynderCut movement. The actor not only revealed that he had seen Zack Snyder’s cut but also called it “sick.” But does he have that same enthusiasm for a potential sequel? Well, when CinemaBlend’s own Law Sharma spoke with Momoa for his upcoming Netflix movie, Sweet Girl, the actor provided an interesting answer:

I think they’re waiting for me to direct it. They’re basically waiting for Warner Bros. to call me up and say, ‘Jason, I love you. I love what you guys are doing. Love the movie. I love Sweet Girl. Hey, let’s get Brian Mendoza, let’s get Jason Momoa to produce and direct the new Justice League.’ Sounds like, ‘You know what guys? We’re in.’

Now, to be clear, when Jason Momoa told us this, he said it in a tongue-in-cheek manner. So it would seem that the actor was having a bit of fun with the question. However, his sentiments may not actually be that far-fetched.

Jason Momoa still has a firm relationship with Warner Bros. At the moment, the actor will next be seen in the studio’s big-screen adaptation of Dune, and he’s currently in the midst of shooting Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. There’s also the fact that Momoa is starting to get more heavily involved behind the scenes of his projects. Admittedly, there’s a good chance WB would likely go for a more experienced filmmaker for a potential Justice League 2, but the possibility of Momoa actually directing certainly isn’t off the table.

Of course, Warner Bros. would actually have to greenlight a sequel before Jason Momoa could even come into the director conversation. Despite the fact that plans for the future of the Justice League film series are still unclear, it’s unlikely that the studio will continue with Zack Snyder’s original plans should things continue. That, however, wouldn’t stop the producers from bringing back some of the original stars. You can check out Snyder’s cut and the 2017 film on HBO Max, which you can sign up for using this link.

Another Justice League movie is sure to happen at some point in the future, considering the fact that the heroes are DC Comics’ signature superhero team. With any luck, they’ll get a second shot at the big screen like Task Force X recently did with The Suicide Squad. But until then, we can look forward to seeing the likes of Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and even Ben Affleck in other DCEU productions.
