After Amber Heard Divorce Donations Come Into Question, Judge Sides With Johnny Depp In Petition

The continuing legal proceedings between divorced couple Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have reached another milestone. Thanks to Heard’s claim that she would donate her $7 million divorce settlement to charity, Depp and his team have seized an opportunity to claim a victory in their ongoing efforts to prove whether or not those donations actually took place. And via a decision in the New York courts, it looks like an effort to look into the validity of those donations might be underway, as a judge has reportedly sided with Johnny Depp in his petition.

The petition was partially granted, and thanks to that decision, the ACLU will now have to release documentation to prove that Amber Heard has made any donation to their organization. The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles has not been named in any sort of request just yet, as that organization is the other half of the $7 million puzzle that is Heard’s alleged donations. As reported by USA Today, Johnny Depp and his team are “most gratified” by this particular development in the long and complicated journey the former pair have taken through the legal systems of both the US and UK.

Previously, the team representing Amber Heard has claimed that she did indeed start to make the donations she’d intended to fulfill. But allegedly, the reason those payments became “delayed” was because of the continued legal representation that Ms. Heard had to retain, in order to continue defending herself against Johnny Depp’s legal challenges.

This new phase of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s acrimonious proceedings comes after Depp’s loss in the UK courts, as he’d attempted to sue The Sun for libel. The case that had everyone talking through the disclosure of details such as a bed pooping scandal, as well as the testimonials of folks like James Franco. Eventually, Mr. Depp would try to appeal that decision, and his request was denied; a victory that gratified Amber Heard and her team.

Of course, the careers of both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have seen the alleged brunt of this battle as well. While Heard has been hounded by fans of Depp on the internet, there was an unsuccessful call to remove her from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is currently in production and with Heard still reprising her role of Mera. Meanwhile, in order to continue his legal efforts, Johnny Depp agreed to stepped out of his role as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series, with Mads Mikkelsen inheriting the role.

As a result of this successful petition, there’s undoubtedly going to be more details released in the saga of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. It’s a story that’s far from over, and all anyone can hope is that in the end, justice is served to the full letter of the law. Meanwhile, those of you who are looking forward to Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will have to wait until December 16, 2022, as that’s the current date scheduled for Ms. Heard’s next comic opus with Jason Momoa.
