There are a number of exciting Marvel Cinematic Universe films on the way, but one that truly has the public’s attention at the moment is Spider-Man: No Way Home. The third movie in Tom Holland’s superhero franchise is an enigma at this point, with mostly rumors populating the web at this point. There have also been a number of leaked set photos and videos, which have provided some small glimpses at the project. And the latest photo shows the young hero reuniting with a familiar MCU character.

Spider-Man: No Way Home originally wrapped production back in March, but it was recently reported that the movie is undergoing reshoots at the moment. And just recently, Not3C Films shared a set photo you can check out on YouTube that shows Spider-Man crossing paths with none other than Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.

While it’s unclear where the movie is filming, it would appear that the in-movie location is meant to look like New York City, and Spider-Man and Doctor Strange could theoretically be meeting in front of Strange’s homebase, the Sanctum Sanctorum. That seems to be a reasonable assumption, though the two heroes could also be meeting at a different place for one reason or another.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange was first linked to Spider-Man: No Way Home last fall, as were plenty of other high-profile characters. There are various theories regarding what his inclusion could mean, but some seem to think it could have major ramifications on Peter Parker’s adventure. The most common theory is that Strange’s presence means Parker will be headed into the multiverse. And to fans, this would add weight to the rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are reprising their roles as their respective Peter Parkers.

Although there are some who are still skeptical about whether Spider-Man: No Way Home being a multiverse movie, there is a chance this could be the case. Late last year, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed during the Disney Investor Day presentation that the Spider-Man movie would have ties to the upcoming film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And as we recently saw on Marvel’s Loki, the multiverse is now wide open in the MCU. Check out that series for yourself by streaming it on Disney+, which you can sign up for using this link.

Until we get a first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans will only be left to their theories and, honestly, even after that first official footage, fans may still have plenty of questions. One thing that can be said for sure, though, is that the stage is now set for a Spider-Man film unlike anything we’ve seen before and, hopefully, it will be an exciting sight to behold on the big screen.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to swing into theaters on December 17th.
