As DC’s Black Adam Prepares To Wrap, The Rock Shares Thankful Message With Fans

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has done plenty of movies over the course of his acting career and, as you can imagine, he still has plenty in the works. However, the one that’s eluded him for the longest is DC’s Black Adam. He was first attached to the project over a decade ago, and only now has the project been able to get off the ground. Luckily, production has been progressing nicely and is headed towards its conclusion. With this, The Rock has shared a sweet and thankful post with the fans as the movie begins to wind down.

The Rock has not shied away from sharing updates on Black Adam, as he specifically kept fans abreast of his training for the movie. One of his latest Instagram posts shows him with his back towards the camera and sporting Black Adam-themed compression shorts. And his caption couldn’t have been better. Check out his post down below:

When Dwayne Johnson was first attached to Black Adam back in 2007, he probably couldn’t have imagined that it would take this long for production to get going. So being able to say that he’s in the final stretch of filming has to be an auspicious moment for him. And as you can see, all of the hard work he put in on the physical side of things definitely paid off.

Despite the number of teases, we’ve haven’t seen any actual spoilers from the set of Black Adam. This includes the titular character’s costume, though fans did seemingly get a small (and covered) peek through one of The Rock’s various posts. And in case anyone’s concerned, the suit will not be padded.

One of the most exciting aspects of Black Adam is that it will pit the main character against the Justice Society of America. This variation of the classic DC Comics team is made up of heroes like Hawkman, played by Aldis Hodge -- who’s also getting fit for the role. There’s also Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate, which should provide the 007 alum with an interesting challenge.

With so many powerful characters, fans should definitely expect this to be one of the grander installments in the DCEU. The set photos we have been lucky enough to see are evidence enough of that. This is hopefully an indication that the movie will be well worth the wait.

It remains to be seen what Black Adam’s role in the larger DC Extended Universe will be, but Dwayne Johnson is definitely right when he says the hierarchy of power in the cinematic universe is about to change. Should things go well, this will only be the beginning for The Rock’s imposing antihero and, hopefully, one aspect of his potential future involves a meet-up with Zachary Levi’s Shazam.

Black Adam storms into theaters on July 29, 2022.
