Russell Crowe's Thor: Love And Thunder Character Has Been Revealed And Wow

Filming has been underway for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love And Thunder over in Australia since early 2021. As shooting rages on, we’ve continued to see the Marvel film grow its cast list between sightings of Guardians of the Galaxy to the return of Matt Damon and Jeff Goldblum. Now we’ve heard straight from Gladiator Oscar-winner Russell Crowe that he too is in on the Thor 4 party.

While speaking on Australian radio show Joy Breakfast with The Murphys, Russell Crowe revealed that he has been portraying the role of Zeus on the Thor: Love and Thunder set. What?? Exactly. Here’s what he said:

I’m going to get on my bicycle. I’m going to ride up to Disney Fox Studios and around about 9:15, I shall be Zeus! It’s for Thor. It’s my last day of Zeus-ing about, and I’m going to enjoy it.

Whoa… what a reveal! During the radio interview, Russell Crowe seemed to nonchalantly confirm that the rest of his day would consist of taking his bicycle over to the Disney lot to play the all-powerful Olympian. Well, now we know I guess! As he shared, he’s almost done with his work on the movie and was excited to savor his last time on the Marvel set.

It’s not surprising Marvel would introduce more Gods into the mix aside from Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder and low and behold the Gods of Gods is coming to the MCU. It actually makes a lot of sense that a famous Olympian would join Thor: Love and Thunder considering the main antagonist at play is Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. The villain’s main mission is to eliminate all gods in the Marvel universe as revenge for not aiding his family when he prayed for their help.

Weeks ago, there were some rumors regarding Russell Crowe joining the film entered the mix, and now the actor has most certainly made it known they are in fact true. Crowe currently lives on a farm in Sydney, Australia, so it would be relatively easier for the actor to join the Love and Thunder cast than some of his castmates, who have had to fly out and quarantine before stepping on set. Do you think Russell Crowe will be in Disney jail for this? The studio had not officially revealed his involvement in the film, but it was fair game considering fans were already making guesses as to who he might play. Just last week, Alfred Molina did something similar by confirming his return as Doctor Octopus and revealing some details about the Spider-Man comeback.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more big reveals about Thor: Love and Thunder ahead of its highly-anticipated release on May 6, 2022. Check out the upcoming MCU lineup here on CinemaBlend.
