Aquaman's Jason Momoa Calls Out Chris Pratt For Snafu, After Which He Promises Not To Litter

Chris Pratt as Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy

Usually, when there's a battle between Marvel and DC, it's fans of the two major comic book labels arguing over which has the better stable of characters. However, a new form of Marvel vs. DC battle shaped up recently, when Jason Momoa took Chris Pratt to task over a plastic water bottle.

Yes, that's really what happened, and the whole thing is really sort of an interesting story. It all started when Chris Pratt posted an image on his Instagram page, promoting a recent partnership with Amazon.

The focus of the thing was supposed to be showing off how Chris Pratt stays in shape for all of his big movies playing superheroes in Guardians of the Galaxy and dinosaur trainers in Jurassic World. However, very quickly the focus shifted to be about the plastic bottle in Chris Pratt's hand.

Aquaman star Jason Momoa commented on the photo and was a bit critical of Chris Pratt for apparently using a single use bottle rather than something reusable.

Bro I love you but wtf on the water bottle. no single use plastic. come on.

Jason Momoa has been very public about his regarding the environment, even protesting the construction of a new massive telescope in Hawaii. As per usual on the internet, it's somewhat difficult to tell just how strongly Momoa is trying to admonish Chris Pratt for the water bottle situation, but he at least cared enough to say something publicly.

Chris Pratt saw the comment, and rather than be upset by it, he admitted the faux pas. It turns out, for what it's worth, that the bottle didn't even belong to Pratt.

Aquaman! You’re completely right. Dammit. I always carry my bit gallon size reusable water jug around with me too. I even had it that day!!! If I remember correctly somebody threw that plastic bottle to me in the photoshoot cause I didn’t know what to do with my hands! I never know what to do with my hands! So uncomfortable. For real tho. Love you too buddy. My bad. I don’t want your home of Atlantis covered in plastic. Hear that kids? Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

You'd think that would be the end of it, but apparently not. While Chris Pratt clearly took the critical statement in the way it was intended, a polite rebuke, a lot of other people didn't. There are currently over 1700 replies to Momoa's comment, and a great deal of them are overly critical of Momoa, for apparently being he was being overly critical of Pratt.

Jason Momoa then took to Instagram himself to apologize for the way in which his comment was received. Momoa included a picture of the two actors together, to reinforce the idea that they are friends, and to simply say that he was passionate about this issue, and that he didn't mean for his statement to be taken in a severely negative way.

So what have we learned today? marvel and DC can get along just fine. And also, don't use single use water bottles.
