Brie Larson Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Trying To Join The Star Wars Franchise

Brie Larson as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel

In recent weeks, Brie Larson hasn't been shy about her desire to become a part of the Star Wars universe. It started when a wave of speculation was generated by the news that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is currently developing his own story set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, and it has sparked a campaign of sorts from the star of Captain Marvel.

Late last month the Academy Award-winning actor posted a photo of herself wearing a Jedi cloak, wielding a lightsaber, and hanging out with C-3PO, and now she's followed it up posing with another version of the classic Jedi weapon at ACE Comic Con:

ACE Comic Con is an annual fan convention that takes place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, and Brie Larson took part in the festivities this past weekend while the event was in full swing. Stopping by the photobooth, the actor struck a pose with one of science fictions most iconic weapons.

As intimated above, it's interesting that the lightsaber we see her holding here isn't the same as the one in the photo from two weeks ago. That one was relatively stout and had a blue blade (it's hard to say for sure, but it looks like Anakin/Luke Skywalker's), while this one appears to be a custom build with a much longer hilt (which appears to be blue), and it has a pink blade.

What's funny about seeing Brie Larson publicly showcasing her love for Star Wars is that it's reminiscent of how her Kong: Skull Island/Captain Marvel/Unicorn Store co-star Samuel L. Jackson found his way into George Lucas' prequel trilogy. Per the actor, he got his role as Mace Windu in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace because he did an interview on television where he expressed his desire to be a part of the franchise. If things go as well for Larson as they did for Jackson, maybe we'll see her carrying the lightsaber above on the big screen.

Of course, Samuel L. Jackson is far from the only person to land a major role this way. In Hollywood, if you're big enough, and you have proven talent, letting the universe know your desires can have significant influence. This is a business where passion is appreciated, and it goes a long way.

We'll just have to wait and see if Brie Larson becomes a part of Kevin Feige's Star Wars movie, or even part of the other two trilogies that are currently in the works (or maybe even a Disney+ show?). For now the good news is that the actress has some exciting stuff in the works, including not only a bright future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also a key role in Destin Daniel Cretton's upcoming Just Mercy, which earned acclaim following its world premiere last month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
