Florence Pugh as Dani in Midsommar

Florence Pugh is having a good year. After starring in Fighting With My Family to start off 2019, she then fronted Ari Aster’s acclaimed horror film Midsommar, and later this year, she plays one of the March sisters in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women. Next year, though, Florence Pugh will have her biggest role yet opposite Scarlett Johansson in Marvel Studios’ Black Widow. This fan tweet captured Florence Pugh’s happy reaction from her Instagram story as she officially wraps filming on Black Widow. The actress is wearing a big smile after finishing her work on the film, as she celebrates alongside Francesca Wilton, whose Instagram account says that she works in the AD Department in TV and films.

Florence Pugh is smiling and happy here, having just wrapped on the biggest movie in her young career. And who could blame her, but something tells me it’ll be all scowls for her character in the film itself.

Florence Pugh stars in Black Widow as Yelena Bolova. In the comics, this character is another Russian spy who went through the same training program as Natasha Romanoff, and thus she has also earned the designation, Black Widow. This film will feature multiple Black Widows as Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha faces off with her past.

In the San Diego Comic-Con footage from Cate Shortland’s Black Widow, Yelena Bolova and Scarlett Johansson’s characters engage in a brutal battle in an apartment, giving Florence Pugh another opportunity to show off the physicality she displayed in Fighting with My Family. It looks like these two will ultimately have a frenemies-type relationship in the film.

Black Widow seemed to be doing reshoots in Georgia this week, and it’s unclear if those are completely done, but production seems to be nearing the end. With Florence Pugh now wrapped on Black Widow, this film is one step closer to ushering in a new era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves.

Interestingly, this movie that starts a new era will not follow the events of Avengers: Endgame due to Black Widow’s death in that film. Instead it will take place between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

Florence Pugh isn’t the only one who is all done on Black Widow. Actor David Harbour, who plays The Red Guardian in the film is also all done shooting, which means he can go film Stranger Things Season 4, right?

Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland and stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz and O-T Fagbenle, with rumors that Robert Downey Jr. could also return as Tony Stark in the film and that William Hurt could reprise his role as Thaddeus Ross.

Black Widow arrives in theaters on May 1, 2020. That’s just one of many huge movies to look forward to as we enter the next decade, check out the rest in our 2020 Release Schedule.
