Arnold Schwarzenegger Shares New Badass Image From Terminator: Dark Fate

Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator: Dark Fate

Arnold Schwarzenegger first became a cinematic badass with two iconic roles, Conan the Barbarian and the Terminator. In November, he returns to the latter role as the T-800 Terminator in director Tim Miller’s Terminator: Dark Fate. And although it’s been 35 years since the first film and Arnold Schwarzenegger is now in his 70s, he still looks like a badass. To prove it, check out this new image the actor shared from Terminator: Dark Fate.

Yes Arnold, we’re read. Ready for Terminator: Dark Fate and ready for what will hopefully be a great Terminator movie. The former Governor of California looks positively badass in the poster for the film shared on his Twitter account, striking the kind of intimidating figure he did decades ago when he was trying to kill Sarah Connor and then, later, trying to save John Connor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger arguably looks even cooler in this poster than he did as a much younger T-800. Like Old Man Logan, the grizzled and graying old man Terminator look is a good one for Arnold Schwarzenegger. This isn’t a shiny new model fresh off the assembly line, this skinjob has seen some things and been through it.

He even has a torn up shirt and a head wound to show for his troubles. This image honestly makes me really want to see that long-discussed King Conan movie, where Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the barbarian in his 70s, when he's weary and disgusted from a life wearing the crown.

Here he’s got the shades, a big ass gun and a really cool jacket, all the necessary ingredients for a badass robot you would definitely want to be on your side in the inevitable march towards Judgment Day. Simply put, he looks like the Terminator. The tagline on the poster “Choose Your Fate” is also fitting and plays into franchise’s characters’ constant struggle against a future that seems unavoidable.

I’ve often felt that the Terminator franchise’s insistence on bringing back Arnold Schwarzenegger for every film (sans Terminator: Salvation) was one of its problems, resulting in the franchise never moving forward, but his return here feels right. Dark Fate will reboot-quel things, following the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day and continuing the story of Sarah Connor and the T-800.

As we’ve seen from the trailers, Sarah Connor is none too thrilled to see the T-800 again and although they’ll need his help against Gabriel Luna’s new Terminator, she’s promised to kill him when it’s all over. Director Tim Miller has teased that Arnold’s character will be very different this time around and audiences won’t be ready for it. Whatever he’s become, he still looks cool.

Terminator: Dark Fate is tracking to open between $35-$45 million when it hits theaters on November 1. Check out our 2019 Release Schedule to keep track of all the big movies coming this fall and stay tuned to CinemaBlend for the latest movie news.
