Kevin Hart In Serious Pain With 'Months' Of Recovery Ahead, Leaving Movie Projects Hanging

Kevin Hart In Jumanji The Next Level 2019

From credit card commercials to roles in big franchise movies like Jumanji: The Next Level, Kevin Hart’s a busy actor. So, it’s no real surprise that a setback and surgery stemming from a car accident would leave some of the actor’s projects in limbo.

Kevin Hart is allegedly in a lot of pain thanks to the serious car accident that occurred last week, forcing the man into surgery and subsequently rehab. The good news? He has already completed filming on two movies – the aforementioned Jumanji: The Next Level and Fatherhood, which wrapped in Boston on Tuesday, just a few short days before Sunday’s car crash.

Although his work on those two projects is in the can, Kevin Hart has other movies in the works. TMZ reports the most pressing of these is a movie called My Own Worst Enemy, which was announced way back in January of 2018 and was finally in pre-production, with Kevin Hart set to both produce and act in the project.

The movie would give Kevin Hart a chance to work with Ride Along director Tim Story once again, but now reports are saying Kevin Hart will likely spend the next several months dealing with rehab after his car accident, which leaves My Own Worst Enemy in limbo, or potentially even forcing the movie to find another actor.

Kevin Hart has other projects in the works, but none have gotten so far along in the process as My Own Worst Enemy. Still, if his injuries linger, his whole schedule could potentially be affected, including projects like Monopoly, which also will supposedly star Kevin Hart and be directed by Tim Story. You don’t need to worry too much about the director losing work, however, as he’s currently busy filming Tom and Jerry for a 2021 release.

Movie projects can be fickle things. Sometimes productions needs to be pushed back and sometimes projects in development don’t end up getting made. It’s really good news that Kevin Hart’s latest projects have wrapped, although whether or not he’ll be in tip top shape to do press and appearances for those upcoming movies remains in question.

Honestly, it might be better for the actor to step back when Jumanji: The Next Level does promotion, simply because if he’s around a lot of people are only going to want to talk about the accident (remember when this happened to Tracy Morgan?) and not the project itself, which would be weird given it should be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2019. His Jumanji co-star Dwayne Johnson recently even stepped up to the plate for the actor and appeared on Kelly Clarkson's new talk show in place of Kevin Hart, leaving his honeymoon early to be there for his friend. Clearly, the press would be able to trek on without him.

Of course, all of this is speculation at this point. What’s not speculation is the fact that Kevin Hart made it through surgery and is now shifting into the next part of his recovery. We wish him well during the process, as rehab can be a tough road to go down.

You can next catch Kevin Hart in Jumanji: The Next Level, out in theaters starting on December 13. Fatherhood is expected to be released in 2020.
