Bond 25 Has An Official Title, And It's Solid

The James Bond franchise is one of the longest running properties in film history. As such, there are generations of moviegoers and fans who were brought up on 007's adventures. Plenty of actors have taken on the mantle of Bond, and 51 year-old Daniel Craig is the latest Brit to play the role. Craig brought a physical presence to the MI6 agent, but his tenure will come to an end with the mysterious Bond 25.

Not much is known about the 25th entry into the 007 franchise, although there have been some injuries and drama coming from the highly guarded set. But the movie is set to arrive in April of 2020, and the upcoming blockbuster's title has finally been released. The next movie is officially titled No Time To Die.

This announcement was made over on the official Bond twitter. Check it out below.

Now this is exciting. Cinephiles have been patiently waiting for any information regarding the 25th' installment in the James Bond franchise. The title No Time To Die feels like a classic Bond title, similar to other ones like Die Another Day. Now the question is, what will the upcoming blockbuster be about?

Luckily, Eon and the folks making the No Time To Die have provided a brief synopsis, as well as a cast list. According to the official announcement, Cary Joji Fukunaga's upcoming blockbuster will see Bond enjoying a brief retirement from MI6 and the armed forces. When enjoying some time off in Jamaica, he's eventually recruited back into the action by his old CIA buddy Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), who recruits him to join one more dangerous mission.

The specifics of that mission are currently unclear, but it will put Daniel Craig's Bond at odds with Oscar winner Rami Malek's new villain. That villain hasn't been named yet, but he'll have access to dangerous new technology that should make 007's mission all the more challenging.

The cast is rounded out by some familiar faces, in addition to newcomers like Rami Malek and Jeffrey Wright. Ralph Fiennes will be back as the current reigning M, taking over after Judi Dench's character died in Skyfall. Spectre Bond Girl Léa Seydoux is also reprising her role as Dr. Madeleine Swann, while Ben Whishaw will be back as Q. Naomie Harris will also play Moneypenny again. Captain Marvel's Lashana Lynch is joining the franchise as Nomi, in a mysterious role that is rumored to be a female 00 agent.

Noticeably missing from the cast is Christoph Waltz' Blofeld, who was the main antagonist of Spectre. The villain made it out of the movie alive, and many fans were hoping that Blofeld would pop back up in another installment.

It should be interesting to see exactly how No Time To Die sends off Daniel Craig's version of James Bond. The character has never been killed off before, despite the franchise's penchant for reboots and recasting. Perhaps the title is a red herring, and we'll see Craig's 007 sacrifice himself in order to stop Rami Malek's villain and save the world. It would be a major plot twist, and give Craig a fitting sendoff as he departs the franchise.

All will be revealed when No Time To Die arrives in theaters on April 8th, 2020. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
