If you could still see through the waterfall of tears at the end of Avengers: Endgame, there was a touching funeral scene featuring just about every MCU character. Even an all grown-up Iron Man 3’s Harley Keener showed up to confuse fans. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has now revealed that another character was almost included in the big scene. In his words:

We did at one point toy with putting Cassie [Lang] there. At one point we thought of digitally adding her so it's the family, but we thought, 'This is the heroes celebrating the other heroes and the loss of Tony,' so we didn't do it. Aside from Smart Hulk and Rocket and Groot, everybody's actually standing there.

Looks like the Marvel president thought of placing Ant-Man’s daughter Cassie Lang in the funeral scene digitally but ultimately decided against it, per a recent Q&A with Empire. She is part of the MCU family, but Kevin Feige decided he wanted to make the tribute about the heroes of the universe mourning the death of Tony Stark. Placing her in would have had fans questioning, 'But then what about so-and-so? Cassie Lang was there!'

It was the right choice, especially considering they’d have to digitally add her in. The final sequence can say all of the actors were there. Only the CGI characters Smart Hulk, Groot and Rocket are not physically present… because duh! Also, in Endgame, we meet a teenage Cassie (played by Emma Fuhrmann), making her technically a new addition to the cast and not central to Endgame.

The 17-year-old actress, who has previously been in Blended with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, admitted she didn’t realize how big of a deal being on the set of a Marvel film was until she got in trouble by Marvel security. When Emma Fuhrmann got to Atlanta, Georgia to shoot her scenes, she posted a picture of a sunset and tagged the city. She was then approached by the studio’s watchdogs for the seemingly innocent social media post.

Emma Fuhrmann may not have made it in the funeral scene, but she can say she’s a cast member in the highest-grossing movie of all time. If the Ant-Man movies continue, maybe she’ll come back and we’ll get to see the new dynamic between Scott Lang and his now teenaged daughter.

Before the filmmakers decided on the funeral sequence as Tony Stark’s tribute, they actually shot a touching moment that happens right after Iron Man makes his sacrifice. Check out the recently released deleted scene below:

The beautiful tribute was cut because the filmmakers ultimately decided the funeral would better resonate with audiences. Marvel Studios really focused on giving Tony Stark an impactful death that would bring justice to the character who kicked off the MCU back in 2008.

Thankfully, directly after the funeral sequence, we learn of Captain America’s much happier fate where he goes back in time, reunites with Peggy Carter and spends a full life with her.

Avengers: Endgame is now available to own in Digital and coming to Blu-ray and DVD on August 13.
