This Week In Trailers: The Addams Family, A Million Little Pieces, And More

Morticia, Gomez, and Lurch

Once a film is in the can and in the midst of the editing process, trailers and teasers begin hitting the internet. This allows early buzz to begin, with careful marketing able to steadily build anticipation and get moviegoers in seats. This week was an exciting one for trailers. While devoid of major releases like Star Wars or the MCU, a variety of indie projects debuted first footage. And there are some really fascinating projects coming down the pipeline, check it out.

A Million Little Pieces

Perhaps the most notable trailer to drop this week was A Million Little Pieces. By Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson, the upcoming movie is based off the controversial memoir of the same name. The movie follows Aaron Taylor-Johnson's James Frey as he enters an inpatient rehabilitation center. The movie's cast includes Billy Bob Thonrton, Juliette Lewis, and Charlie Hunnam. The movie will debut at TIFF 2019, before Momentum Picture gives the movie a wide release on December 6th.

Addams Family

The Addams Family is back, and this time they're getting the animated treatment. The altogether ooky family will be the stars of the upcoming reboot of The Addams Family, which will arrive in theaters just in time for Halloween. MGM and co-directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan assembled a strong cast of actors to bring the story to life. Oscar Isaac is perfectly cast as Gomez, while Charlize Theron will play opposite him as Morticia. Wednesday will be played by Chloe Grace Moretz, while Stranger Things standout Finn Wolfhard will voice Pugsley. The cast is also round out by Nick Kroll, Snoop Dogg, Catherine O'Hara, and Bette Midler.

Honey Boy

Honey Boy is particularly fascinating project, coming from the mind of the always unexpected Shia Lebeouf. The movie was written by the Transformers actor, and is an autobiographical piece about his relationship with his father. Lebeouf is actually playing his father in the movie, opposite Lucas Hedges as the Shia character. Natasha Lyonne and Martin Starr also have roles in the upcoming movie, which will arrive November 8th.

Haunt

The horror renaissance has been going strong for the past few years, with a variety of quality content arriving in theaters, and making tons of money in the process. John Krasinski's A Quiet Place was one of the biggest hits of 2018, with a bold premise and outstanding performances. Writers Bryan Woods and Scott Beck wrote the project with Krasinski, and their horror follow-up will be Haunt. Woods and Beck also directed the project, which sees a group of friends enter a haunted house. The cast is a young group of relative unknowns, who will no doubt be killed off in a variety of ways. The movie will arrive September 13th.

There are clearly a bunch of exiting movies coming down the pipeline, and that's just one week of them. CinemaBlend will be sure to update you on all the new trailers as they're released. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
