The #1 Reason You Should See Endgame's Re-Release, According To Mark Ruffalo

Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame.

The Russo Brothers really brought it with Avengers: Endgame, following up on the wild narrative journey they began with Infinity War. The blockbuster delivered on all fronts, with an emotional story jam-packed with action and unexpected cameos. As a result, it cleaned up at the box office, breaking all sorts of records in the process. But there is one more record that Disney is no doubt hoping to break.

Avengers: Endgame sits just below Avatar for the #1 best selling movie of all time. But that might change given the blockbuster's re-release, which includes some bonus content added after the credits. The cast and crew have been encouraging moviegoers to head back to theaters one more time, and now Mark Ruffalo has joined the cause. And he's given one big reason to head to Endgame's re-release.

Once again, Bro Thor wins the day. The God of Thunder's physical transformation was one of the early shockers in Avengers: Endgame. And it's a plot point that quickly went viral once the blockbuster arrived in theaters back in April.

Mark Ruffalo's tweet includes some set photos from Avengers: Endgame, specifically the scenes that occurred in New Asgard. After the Time Heist was conceptualized by Ant-Man and Iron Man, a group was assembled to carry it out. Rocket and Bruce Banner travel to the new Asgardian homeland, and find that the God of Thunder is in a state of deep depression. He's wallowing in his self-loathing, using alcohol to numb the mind, and only fighting bad villains on Fortnite.

While Avengers: Endgame apparently had a no cellphone policy, it was proven rather ineffective in the months since The Russo Brothers' movie was released. Once The Russo Brothers lifted the spoiler ban, actors began posting "super illegal" videos and photo content from the film's set. Mark Ruffalo is just one of the many offenders, who was revealed to be snapping pictures while filming his fifth major appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thor's physical transformation in Endgame was definitely the source of a big laugh during the above scene, although there is some controversy surrounding that plot point. Some advocates felt the jokes at Thor's expense were fat shaming, while comic book aficionado Kevin Smith personally thanked Chris Hemsworth for playing a superhero with an imperfect body. The 35 year-old actor actually fought for Thor's weight gain to remain throughout the entirety of Endgame, which served as a visual reminder of the character's mental state.

As Avengers: Endgame prepares to finally arrive for home purchase, Marvel Studios seemingly revealed the official name for the new Thor. While #FatThor has gone viral in the months since the character's look premiered in theaters, the special features of Endgame list him as "Bro Thor". This is decidedly less shaming, and also includes the characters' other habits from the five-year time jump.

Avengers: Endgame's re-release is in theaters now, possibly helping the movie become the highest selling of all time. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
