The Alita: Battle Angel Super Bowl Trailer Looks Thrilling

The Super Bowl is underway, and while The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams battle it out to win the big game, America wins with a great game and commercials. Alita: Battle Angel was one of the first trailers to drop of the evening, and it brought out all the stops for television viewers. This latest look is a thrill ride from start to finish, as Alita delivers some hits that would get her a flag in the NFL.

Man, that head-twisting kick looked absolutely brutal. With that said, it looks like Alita (Rosa Salazar) is gonna need all that power and then some to take on some of the robots seen in this brief but action packed look at Alita: Battle Angel. If she can drop foes with kicks that hard, imagine what that hulking behemoth seen near the beginning can do with those, muscles? What does one call robot muscles?

Mahershala Ali is another stand out of this trailer, as is the case with most things he's in. The evil laugh and sunglasses thing is really working for him.  With that said, it's really hard to look more intimidating than Ed Skrein as Zapan, as he'll be gunning for Alita throughout the film. This film is setting up a truly wonderful cast of villains, so fingers crossed some of them are left at the end should a sequel be possible.

Alita: Battle Angel follows the tale of a robot rebuilt with a mysterious past. As seen in the trailer, Alita uses her abilities to take on other machines with skills similar to hers. The cyberpunk drama is directed by Robert Rodriguez and is produced by James Cameron. Both men's work is inspired by the original manga, which was written by Japanese writer Yukito Kishiro.

Unfortunately, those hoping to get to a theater immediately missed their chance to do that, as there were showing in select 3D and IMAX theaters on Thursday, January 31. The promotion was done in an effort to showcase Alita: Battle Angel's 3D, and to encourage filmgoers to experience the film the way Robert Rodriguez shot it. Producer James Cameron thinks folks will be impressed with it, which should hold some weight considering the 3D of Avatar amazed audiences years ago.

Alita: Battle Angel is in theaters Friday, February 14. For more on the movie, be sure to read up on what those who have watched it thought of it. Also, be sure to check out CinemaBlend's trip to Weta Workshop, and the hilarious hijinx that went down with the crew and CinemaBlend's Jeff McCobb.
