Glass’ Anya Taylor-Joy Is Down To Come Back Again

Casey in Split

If there's any director associated with big twists, it's M. Night Shyamalan. Starting with classics like The Sixth Sense and Signs, Shyamalan has built in a mind-blowing twist to each of his movies, including 2016's thriller Split. That capsulated story was revealed to be apart of something much larger in its final scene, which revealed that it was set in the same universe as 2000's Unbreakable.

Those two Shyamalan movies collided in a big way with Glass, as the director weaved the stories and characters together into an epic crossover film. This included each film's supporting characters, with Split star Anya Taylor-Joy reprising her role as Casey Cooke. And it turns out she'd love to come back again, if Night needs her. Speaking for both herself and co-star Spencer Treat Clark, the actress recently said:

We would both be so happy to come back, for Night, for anything. I think we'd both read shopping lists for him, but we know nothing (about what comes next) and that is actually part of the beauty of Mr. Shyamalan is that he actually respects us as an audience, and he wants us to have the experience.

While there doesn't seem to be any plans for the Glass franchise to continue, Anya Taylor-Joy seems all too eager to play Casey for a third time. Furthermore, she may have a few ideas that she's spoken with the director/writer about.

Anya Taylor-Joy's comments to ComicBookMovie are sure to excite fans of the recently completed Glass trilogy, who are hoping that more superheroic adventures may be coming down the line from M. Night Shyamalan. With comic book movies releasing every few months, Shyamalan put his own spin on the genre, telling stories that are smaller in scale and focused on the psyche of his protagonists.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem likely that M. Night Shyamalan will craft a fourth movie set within the same universe. The director has stated the story was always going to be a trilogy, with Glass providing a concrete ending to the trio of leading characters: Mr. Glass, David Dunn, and Kevin Wendell Crumb. While the story could potentially live on through Anya Taylor-Joy's Casey and Spencer Treat Clark's Joseph Dunn, it just wouldn't be the same.

Spoilers ahead for Glass.

Given how Glass ended, keeping the franchise going doesn't make much sense. M. Night Shyamalan's multi-twist ending killed off the trio of leading characters, leading a potential fourth movie void of iconic leads. Then again, the trio of supporting characters seemingly changed the world in Glass' final moments. Releasing the footage of David Dunn and The Beasts's conflict, it was revealed that superpowered individuals are out there. So if a spinoff were to happen, there are narrative threads to pull from-- especially where Casey is concerned.

Glass is still in theaters now. Be sure to check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
