The Powers Cyborg Will Have In Justice League

Cyborg Justice League

As one of the more recent additions to the core DC universe, Vic Stone's abilities have gone somewhat less explored than those of Barry Allen or Clark Kent. However, with his full-fledged silver screen debut set for next month, it looks like Vic is about to put an entire arsenal of powers on full display. In fact, Cyborg actor Ray Fisher recently opened up about his role in Justice League and explained that the DCEU's Cyborg has a broad range of offensive and defensive capabilities that can pretty much handle any situation that Vic could potentially find himself in. Fisher explained:

Due to the technology used to create Cyborg, his powers are ever-evolving. They include: the ability to interface with anything technological, flight, super-strength, hologram projection and a sophisticated weapon's system ... the list goes on! He has powers within him that even he isn't yet aware of. Cyborg doesn't need to eat or sleep, and whenever he encounters an issue that he's not initially equipped to handle, his technology can transmogrify and immediately adapt to that situation.

Batman's utility belt has nothing on Cyborg, and it looks like his cameo in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice only represented the beginning. The guy can fly, lift almost anything, use a nearly limitless number of weapons, and he doesn't even need to eat or sleep -- and that's just a handful of the powers mentioned by Ray Fisher during his chat with Fortress of Solitude. Moreover, he can connect with literally any piece of technology on the planet (something seen in the recent Justice League trailers), and his Mother Box-based powers allow him to instantly adapt to any survival situation, even if he's not aware of how his techno-side is doing it.

This description of his survival ability seems like a bit of a departure from other versions of Cyborg that we have seen in recent years. Although the essential "badass robot" characterization has remained relatively consistent ever since his introduction, the availability of upgrades has played a role in several stories. For example, in an issue of the Justice League run of the New 52, a major plot point involves Vic sacrificing one of his lungs so that his father can surgically implant an upgrade in his metallic body that will allow him to survive in water or outer space. Concerning functionality, it sounds like the silver screen Cyborg will have much more adaptability in combat than other versions of the hero.

In fact, the core description of Cyborg's abilities in Justice League shares numerous similarities with another DC hero: Blue Beatle. The Jaime Reyes version of the character similarly uses an advanced alien exoskeleton full of offensive/defensive abilities, and he also doesn't know the full extent of its powers when he first bonds with it.

So from everything that we know about Cyborg's abilities in Justice League, it seems that the marketing material has only scratched the surface of what Vic is capable of as a member of the team. Whatever happens, when Steppenwolf shows up in his quest for the Mother Boxes, it stands to reason that Cyborg will sand as one of the League's most valuable assets.

Audiences will get to see all of Cyborg's amazing robotic abilities when Justice League debuts in theaters next month on November 17. Tickets for the highly-anticipated blockbuster are now available, so make sure to get yours and start gearing up for the League's first silver screen adventure!
