The Avengers: Infinity War Just Revealed Thanos’ Minions, And They Look Amazing

After many, many years of waiting, The Avengers: Infinity War will finally feature the epic battle that all Marvel fans have been anticipating: The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy versus Thanos. As we just learned today, however, it seems that the Mad Titan won't be working alone in the 2018 blockbuster, as it's been confirmed that the movie will also feature the group from Marvel Comics known as the Black Order. You can get your first look at this terrifying assembly- including Corvus Glave, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf -- below!

THE AVENGERS INFINITY WAR BLACK ORDER THANOS

We previously got a hint that Ebony Maw would be featured in The Avengers: Infinity War thanks to some leaked set photos, but today we have confirmation that The Black Order from Marvel Comics will be making their live-action debut in the 19th film from Marvel Studios. The maquettes pictured above were unveiled this afternoon on the convention floor of Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, and the designs look spectacular. If their depiction in the film is similar to how they operate in the source material, then they will prove to be key aides to the Mad Titan as he plots both his invasion and conquering of the planet Earth.

So let's take a closer look at this terrifying mob, shall we?

Ebony Maw

Ebony Maw

In case you couldn't tell by his complete lack of build, Ebony Maw isn't really much of a physical threat - but that doesn't mean that he's not remarkably dangerous. While he probably can't put any of the superheroes down with a punch, it doesn't really matter because he can actually get superheroes to just punch themselves. This is because Ebony's greatest weapon is his power of persuasion, as he can simply whisper in an ear and have his will done.

Proxima Midnight

Proxima Midnight

Proxima Midnight is the only female member of the Black Order in The Avengers: Infinity War, but she's arguably the most skilled warrior and a real surgeon with that spear. In the comics she is sent by Thanos to go to Atlantis to retrieve an Infinity Gem from Namor - but considering that Namor is not yet a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one can assume that her efforts will be focused elsewhere. Maybe she will be the one to try and pluck the Mind Stone from Vision's head?

Corvus Glave

Corvus Glave

The view is slightly obscured in this image by Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet, but this creepy looking individual is Corvus Glave, a.k.a. Thanos' right hand man (he also happens to be the husband of Proxima Midnight). Thanks to the fact that he betrayed his own people in order to serve Thanos, he is the Mad Titans' closest confidant, and helps dictate military strategy whenever his master is planning the invasion of a new world. That blade he carries is also quite special, because as long as he wields it he cannot die.

Black Dwarf

Finally we have Black Dwarf, who is without question the most physically terrifying member of the Black Order - as his stature effectively makes Thanos look small. During the invasion of Earth, his assignment is the country of Wakanda a.k.a. the home of Black Panther - and it's worth mentioning that in the comics he winds up severely underestimating the power of the Vibranium-powered nation and its warrior king.

Right now we don't know who any of the actors playing these parts will be, but it looks as though their performances in The Avengers: Infinity War will be recorded using motion capture technology. Naturally, we're incredibly curious about the stars who will wind up breathing life into these characters, so be sure to stay tuned here on CinemaBlend as more information rolls in over the next few months. For now: what do you think of the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the Black Order? Are they as scary as you would hope? Hit the comments section below with your thoughts.
