Superman Fans Should Get Very Excited About Geoff Johns' DCEU Tweet

Henry Cavill as Superman

We know so little about how Supeman (Henry Cavill) will be used in the upcoming Justice League movie that any hint is enough to send DC fans into palpitations. Naturally, we assume that Kal-El will come back from the dead, but there are numerous mysteries surrounding the state of Superman, so when we see Tweets like this from the mighty Geoff Johns, our geek pulses start to race:

DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns was playfully responding to a list posted by Heroic Hollywood about the 5 Best Superman Moments So Far in the DCEU. And Johns' advice suggests that Justice League will have a Superman moment that's so extreme, it immediately will warrant inclusion on a list of major Supes scenes. To the speculation machine!

The one moment that we're eagerly anticipating is Superman's rise from the grave. When last we saw the last son of Krypton, he was "dead" and buried. But Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder couldn't leave DCEU fans hanging in the lurch for this entire time, so he made sure to show the dirt on top of Superman's casket move, ever so slightly. Watch it again, one last time, in case it has been awhile:

This all begs the important question: How much Superman will we actually see in Justice League? The all-important DC powerhouse has been totally absent from Justice League's marketing so far, with trailers focusing wholeheartedly on Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) recruiting the other metahumans that they need to fight an impending threat: Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). So far, the move has been calculated. But now, things are changing. Zack Snyder has passed the baton to Joss Whedon as a result of a family tragedy, and Whedon -- who helmed two Avengers films -- is lording over a bevy of reshoots. Could they be used to beef up Superman's role in the fight against Steppenwolf and his parademons? Did Joss cook up a massive Superman set piece that will be used to elevate Justice League to a new plateau?

Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman movie, which continues to dominate on the big screen, injected optimism and hope into the DCEU, sentiments that we normally associate with Superman. In fact, I'd argue that Wonder Woman is the Superman movie that the DCEU needed, instead of the darker-toned Man of Steel. But if there's one element of Justice League that I am eagerly awaiting, it's the triumphant return of a powerful Superman, to hopefully lead the charge of the Age of Heroes, which can carry DC into the next few years of amazing superhero movies.

Just, don't give him a black suit and a mullet.
